Malton’s Medieval Story – 2 August

Saturday 2 August 11:00

Book this event

The layout of Malton town centre has changed very little since medieval times, but its early origins are now well concealed behind later Georgian and Victorian buildings. St Mary’s Priory Church in Old Malton is the largest remaining visible evidence of the area’s flourishing medieval past. Join us there for an illustrated talk in which we reveal the hidden history of the origins of both Old and New Malton. This will be followed by a guided look at key features inside the church and in the former priory grounds by the river.
Tour length – 1.5 hours approx. We recommend wearing sensible footwear and bringing a raincoat).

Meeting point
Meet 11.00 am at St Mary’s Priory Church, 18 Town St, Old Malton, Malton YO17 7HB.
